The following are the steps an instructor takes to submit an Early Alert for a student in their course. For a more details, including screenshots and viewing alerts that you have already submitted as an instructor, please review the Issuing Early Alerts guide.

Log in to Compass via your Lehigh credentials: go.lehigh.edu/compassadmin

To issue an alert from:
- Staff Home or Professor Home, select Issue an Alert or Referral from the Actions pane on the right.
- Professor Home, scroll down to Students In My Courses, select a student from the list, select Actions, and then Issue Alert or Referral.
- A student profile, select Issue an Alert or Referral from the Options pane on the right of the student's profile.

Selecting Issue an Alert or Referral opens the Alerts dialog.
- Alert Reason: Select one reason for issuing this alert: Academic Concern or Requesting Administrative Withdrawal.
- Association with Specific Course: Select the associated course in which the student is enrolled.
- Additional Comments: Enter comments in this box. Staff and faculty with permission can view the alert and its comments. There is no character limit to this field.
When you select an Alert Reason when issuing an Early Alert, details and the actions that will take place are shown.
Important: Any information you enter into Compass pertaining to a student becomes part of their official student record. It may be subpoenaed by the student as outlined in the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
